Nine is Fine at INBA Spring Convention

TV-10 students won seven awards and two scholarships at the Illinois News Broadcasters Association Spring Convention in Peoria.

  First place awards went to Aaron Eades, for Outstanding TV News Reporting and the SportsZone crew (Vicky Cronin, Lindsey Harrison, Zack Howard, Mike O’Brien and Nathan Swenson) for Outstanding TV Sports Program.
  A second place award went to the TV-10 News crew of Aaron Eades, Lindsey Harrison, Demiries Mendez, Tim Van Duyne, Jeff Hager, Cody Bergquist, and Emily Stopka  for Outstanding TV Newscast.
  Third place awards went to Michele Maslanka and Alicia Ogierman (tie) for Outstanding Videography, and Lindsey Harrison and Chris Highland (tie) for Outstanding TV Sports Reporting.

 
Senior Chris Newman was awarded a Scholarship in memory of Bob Murray.  The longtime Springfield-area broadcaster died in February after a brief illness. His daughters and wife were there to help award the scholarship.

Also, 2013 graduate Christa Shavers was awarded a Scholarship in memory of Mary McAndrew.  Christa is in the PAR graduate program at University of Illinois-Springfield and is completing an internship at WICS-TV in Springfield, where she hopes to be hired after graduation.
